NEW YORK, March 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Timeshifter® – The Jet Lag App® – today announced it will finalize $1.45 million in seed financing, and that it was selected to join the latest group of travel startups by celebrated Silicon Valley startup accelerator, investor, and corporate innovation platform Plug and Play.
Timeshifter, which also just received National Sleep Foundation’s 2019 SleepTech® Award for ‘Best App’ last week, is developed with Harvard Medical School Associate Professor, Steven Lockley, Ph.D., based on the latest research in sleep and circadian neuroscience. Dr. Lockley is a world-renowned expert in circadian rhythms, sleep, and jet lag. He has spent 25 years studying sleep, and works with clients such as NASA Astronauts and Formula 1 drivers on circadian management for optimal performance and health.
With Timeshifter, travelers can create their own easy-to-follow, personalized jet lag plans based on their sleep pattern, chronotype, itinerary, and optional preferences such as pre-travel adjustment or the use of melatonin for even faster adaptation. Timeshifter has already been recognized by leading media and hailed by its users, who have given it an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars.
“Timeshifter offers a foundation for improved sleep and jet lag reduction that simply doesn’t exist in the travel industry today. Without Timeshifter’s personalized approach, no traveler can tackle the underlying cause of jet lag, and optimize their performance, enjoyment, and health when traveling. We have seen a number of early engagements from several of our corporate travel and hospitality partners, which is a key indicator Timeshifter is poised to revolutionize the travel experience,” said Jordan Bray, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Plug and Play Travel & Hospitality.
Timeshifter has joined the Batch 7 / Spring 2019 of Plug and Play’s Travel & Hospitality program. Plug and Play is an innovation platform in Silicon Valley that brings together the best startups, investors, and the world’s largest corporations. The Plug and Play team discovered Timeshifter personally, on a recent trip around the world, on which some used Timeshifter to successfully beat jet lag, while others did not and struggled as a consequence. While Plug and Play saw great potential in Timeshifter, it was up to their corporate partners to invite Timeshifter into the travel cohort. Plug and Play Travel’s partners include Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, CWT, and Star Alliance.
Timeshifter’s investors include retired NASA Astronaut Michael López-Alegría and Air Canada Chairman Vagn Sørensen. Timeshifter is now preparing for its series A to further enhance the app and accelerate business development.
“The award from the National Sleep Foundation and our selection to join Plug and Play’s latest group of travel startups in Silicon Valley represent exciting validation of Timeshifter and its mission. Along with amazing feedback from our users, this recognition confirms our belief that science and smart technology can revolutionize the travel industry. Our new fundraising will allow us to further enhance the Timeshifter app and grow our business partnerships. The Timeshifter team is grateful for these votes of confidence,” said Timeshifter co-founder & CEO, Mickey Beyer-Clausen.
